Plasticizing

The Sodick Plustech utilizes a two-stage "V-LINE" method for plasticizing and injection. These proven concepts allow for consistent shot volumes and melt densities unmatched with standard designs. Unlike conventional in-line reciprocating screw system, the V-LINE plasticizing screw remains stationary during material transfer minimizing axial wear and ensuring each pellet sees the same heat profile. Because of this unique design, the screws functions are limited to material transfer and consistent melt densities into the injection chamber. Upon completion, it then seals the injection chamber by a hydraulic cylinder pushing the screw forward approximately 1.5mm, thus eliminating any back flow of material.

V-LINE TWO STAGE PLUNGER RECIPROCATING SCREW
V-Line Plunger Reciprocating Screw
Minimum screw stroke. Very stable material feeding. Screw is reciprocating while metering. Feeding material at different position of screw.
While plasticizing, screw position is stationary like extrusion screw. Each pellets goes through the same thermal exposure, so that it w ill provide very stable density and uniform melt of material. Reciprocating movement of screw leads to unstable thermal distribution in each shot. It tends to be complicated to compensate this by setting mult iple screw rotation and/or multiple back-pressure.
Material density is stable because screw does NOT retract. Metered material density is not constant result from uncontrollable balance of "back pressure" and "reciprocating movement".
V-LINE handle higher recycle ratio compare to Reciprocating Screw. One screw has two functions: Plasticizing and injection.
