Molding MicroNeedle Array Patches: What is Possible
Micro molded needles and sharps are being utilized for drug delivery by either being coated or through injection. Because micro needles and sharps are so small, there is uncertainty regarding the ability to achieve needed geometry and tight tolerances. This presentation will explore the perceived limitations of molded needles and sharps. Challenges and solutions created over our 30-year history will cover the ability to mold 3-micron tips, extreme aspect ratios and lumen sizes down to 20 microns. These examples will also cover solutions that were created in thermoplastics, API-loaded resins, and bioresorbable materials.
